Specification Quality Checklist: Mission System Architectural Refinement

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2025-01-16 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs)
  • ✅ Focused on user value and business needs
  • ✅ Written for non-technical stakeholders
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are technology-agnostic (no implementation details)
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified

Feature Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows
  • ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • ✅ No implementation details leak into specification

Validation Notes

Content Quality - PASS

  • Spec focuses on WHAT (DRY violations, schema validation, mission switching) and WHY (maintenance burden, silent failures, enable domain alternation)
  • No mention of specific Python libraries (Pydantic is mentioned only in success criteria as measurement of implementation, not mandated approach)
  • Readable by product managers/stakeholders

Requirement Completeness - PASS

  • Zero [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers
  • All 29 functional requirements are testable with clear pass/fail criteria
  • 17 success criteria are measurable and technology-agnostic
  • 7 user stories with 32 acceptance scenarios in Given/When/Then format
  • 6 edge cases identified with expected behavior
  • Scope clearly excludes: MCP tools integration, agent context restructuring, custom validators interface
  • 8 assumptions documented

Feature Readiness - PASS

  • FR-001 through FR-029 all have corresponding acceptance scenarios
  • User stories cover: code quality (P1), schema validation (P1), research mission (P1), mission switching (P2), path enforcement (P2), documentation (P3), dashboard (P3)
  • Success criteria map to measurable outcomes without implementation details
  • No technical implementation leaked (uses terms like "system MUST" not "use Pydantic library")

Status

✅ ALL CHECKS PASS - Specification is ready for /spec-kitty.plan

No issues identified. The specification is complete, technology-agnostic, testable, and ready for planning phase.
