Specification Quality Checklist: CI Test-Topology Performance

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-07-12 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details beyond what the domain requires (this is a test-topology mission; pytest flags and shard tables are the domain object, not incidental tech choices)
  • ✅ Focused on user value and business needs (fast, reliable CI feedback without coverage loss)
  • ✅ Written for stakeholders (maintainers/contributors); outcomes stated as wall-clock + coverage
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
  • ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, and C-### entries
  • ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value
  • ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds (wall-clock budgets, skew %, coverage %)
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are outcome-focused (wall-clock, coverage preservation)
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined (4 scenarios incl. real-port exception)
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified (real-port isolation, shard escape, collection tax)
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded (Out of Scope names the sibling missions)
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified

Feature Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria (mapped to NFR budgets + completeness guard)
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows (fast feedback, no coverage loss, real-port safety, evidence-based balancing)
  • ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • ✅ No implementation details leak beyond the test-topology domain

Notes

  • FR-007 / NFR-005 (coverage preservation) is the load-bearing invariant — every sharded/re-scoped job must ship its own completeness guard, per C-004.
  • Budgets (NFR-001…004) are initial targets from observed runs; they are ratcheted against real post-change CI runs during implementation.
  • WP dependency: the integration-tests-next shard table (FR-002) depends on the duration evidence enabled by FR-001.
