Specification Quality Checklist: Consolidate — canonical lane-consolidation terminology

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-09-27 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs) — Note: command names and code identifiers (consolidate, MergeState, baseline_merge_commit) appear because they ARE the domain objects of a terminology rename; naming them is required, not leakage.
  • ✅ Focused on user value and business needs (one unambiguous word; no false review verdicts; no hard break)
  • ✅ Written for non-technical stakeholders — as far as a maintainer-facing rename allows; user stories lead with intent, not mechanics.
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain (all three discovery decisions resolved)
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
  • ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, and C-### entries
  • ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value (Open)
  • ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds (0 regressions, ≤15 complexity, zero lint/type issues)
  • ✅ Every FR row and success criterion carries a delivery label and no-op mark
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are technology-agnostic — command/identifier names are the mission's domain objects; kept to outcomes, not internal mechanics.
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified (resume, frozen keys, merge-drivers, agent regeneration)
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded (C-008 defers long-tail prose)
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified

Feature Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria (via User-Story scenarios + Success Criteria)
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows (consolidate, old-name removal, reviewer clarity, drift guard)
  • ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • ✅ No implementation details leak into specification (beyond the domain objects a rename inherently names)

Notes

  • Recorded divergence from #3080 AC: the issue mandated a deprecated back-compat alias; operator override removes spec-kitty merge this cycle (pre-stable 4.0.0rc) with a migration-error stub. Captured in the spec's scope note and C-004; to be noted on the issue.
  • Frozen wire-keys (C-002) are the load-bearing "do not rename" set — baseline_merge_commit, MergeStrategy="merge", state.json.
  • All checklist items pass; ready for /spec-kitty.plan.
