Specification Quality Checklist: Anchor Gate D's dead-path docs regex

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-10-12 Mission: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs) — the spec names the gate/surface under test (unavoidable for a gate-correctness fix) but states behaviour, not an implementation of the regex
  • ✅ Focused on user value and business needs (gate precision; no false CI reds)
  • ✅ Written for non-technical stakeholders (maintainer-facing)
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
  • ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, C-### and SC-### entries, and match the requirement-ID grammar
  • ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value
  • ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds (complexity ≤ 15; zero ruff/mypy issues; both-direction non-vacuity)
  • ✅ Every FR row and success criterion carries a delivery label and no-op mark
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are technology-agnostic (counts of fixtures flagged / not flagged; red-on-revert)
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded (Gate D only; siblings audited, not widened)
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified

Mission Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows (over-match rejection + genuine-ref catch)
  • ✅ Mission meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • ✅ No implementation details leak into specification

Notes

sibling gates named in #6096 were audited (see the diagnosis note in research/) and do not share the identical git grep-no-left-boundary root cause, so they are out of scope and recorded as a follow-up observation rather than widened in.

  • All items pass. The spec is ready for /spec-kitty.plan.
  • Scope is deliberately bounded to Gate D (test_dead_builtin_doc_paths.py). The
