Specification Quality Checklist: Dev-Assist Retirement + Path-Validation Hardening

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-07-12 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs) — the mission's domain IS the test suite/validator; specific tests/functions appear as Key Entities and grounding, but requirements state WHAT/WHY (outcomes), not HOW to code the fix
  • ✅ Focused on user value and business needs — suite protects real behavior; security hole closed
  • ✅ Written for non-technical stakeholders — Summary + user stories are outcome-framed
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
  • ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, and C-### entries
  • ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value (Open)
  • ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds (8/8 vectors, 0 xfail, 0 regressions, net LOC down)
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are technology-agnostic (outcome/count based)
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified (stale xfail; partial-coverage narrow; superset consolidation)
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded (Out of Scope names sibling missions + DIRECTIVE_025 boundary)
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified

Feature Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows (security P1, dev-assist P2, consolidation P3)
  • ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • ✅ No implementation details leak into specification (beyond the unavoidable domain entities)

Notes

  • Items marked incomplete require spec updates before /spec-kitty.plan. All items pass.
  • Deliberate specificity: because the "product" here is the test suite and a named security validator, the spec names concrete tests/functions as Key Entities and acceptance anchors. This is grounding, not implementation prescription — the how (which helper to extract, how the validator rejects) is left to /plan and /tasks.
  • WP decomposition is intentionally NOT in this spec; /plan derives the approach and /tasks derives the work packages.
