Specification Quality Checklist: Canonical doctrine artifact slug convention

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-09-21 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs) beyond the operator-facing CLI surface this tooling fix is defined by
  • ✅ Focused on user (operator) value and business needs
  • ✅ Written for the affected stakeholders (Spec Kitty operators authoring project-tier doctrine)
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
  • ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, and C-### entries
  • ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value
  • ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are technology-agnostic (framed as operator outcomes: rounds of manual repair, green/red validate, corruption still detected)
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded (in: #4832, #4833, #4834, ADR; out: #4842 CI-routing and other findings)
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified

Feature Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows
  • ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • ✅ No implementation details leak into specification beyond the necessary CLI surface

Notes

  • This is developer-facing tooling: the "product surface" is the charter CLI behavior, so naming charter bundle validate / charter new / the synthesis manifest is describing observable outcomes, not implementation leakage. The internal mechanism (slug_for, manifest-driven validation) is named only where it is the load-bearing durable-fix decision the operator selected.
  • Scope explicitly excludes #4842 (CI path-routing for prose-only diffs) — a separate subsystem/mission.
