Specification Quality Checklist: Legacy→Journal Capture Cutover

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-08-15 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs) — bug-fix mission necessarily names affected capability surfaces (layout mode, capture stores) but avoids code/framework specifics
  • ✅ Focused on user value and business needs
  • ✅ Written for non-technical stakeholders
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
  • ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, and C-### entries
  • ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value
  • ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are technology-agnostic — outcome-framed (capture %, refusal count, event-count preservation); CI-job name retained as the one verifiable release gate
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded (explicit Out of Scope: #2750, emitter contract)
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified (C-001 #3391-first; Assumptions section)

Feature Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows (P1 capture + auth, P2 dedup/stranded/cutover/tests)
  • ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • ✅ No implementation details leak into specification (beyond unavoidable capability naming)

Notes

squad (root-cause + related-bugs + PR-conflict scans) and three confirmed scope decisions (fold #3476/#3278/#2846; land #3391 first; auto-cutover legacy-with-data).

  • Items marked incomplete require spec updates before /spec-kitty.plan.
  • All items pass on first authoring iteration; spec derived from a prior research
