Specification Quality Checklist: Rejection feedback reaches the implementer

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-09-27 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs)
  • ✅ Focused on user value and business needs
  • ✅ Written for non-technical stakeholders
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
  • ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, and C-### entries
  • ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value
  • ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds
  • ✅ Every FR row and success criterion carries a delivery label and no-op mark
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are technology-agnostic (no implementation details)
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified

Feature Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows
  • ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • ✅ No implementation details leak into specification

Notes

  • Scope is bounded to #4899 + #5024 (epic #3044); non-goals #4327 / #5007 / #4809 / #3563 are named as out of scope in C-002, with #4809 non-regression retained in NFR-003. #3451 is a conditional fold (FR-008, [folded]).
  • The four ATDD acceptance criteria map to: SC-001/US1-AC1+AC3 (parity durable record), SC-002/US1-AC2 (no-rationale refusal), SC-003/US2-AC2 (visible warning on fix-mode failure), SC-004/US2-AC3 (dual-topology render). NFR-002 pins the red-first coverage requirement.
  • No implementation line numbers, function names, or module paths appear in the spec body (they belong to plan/tasks).
  • Items marked incomplete require spec updates before /spec-kitty.plan. None are incomplete.
