Specification Quality Checklist: Shared Package Boundary Cutover

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-04-25 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs) — spec discusses package boundaries / contracts; references to Python/pytestarch/uv are constraint/context only, not prescriptive design
  • ✅ Focused on user value and business needs — clean install, no cross-package release lockstep
  • ✅ Written for non-technical stakeholders — runtime/events/tracker boundary is described in package-contract terms
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
  • ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, and C-### entries (FR-001..FR-020, NFR-001..NFR-007, C-001..C-011)
  • ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value
  • ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds (90% coverage, 0 mypy errors, ≤5min CI, ≤30s arch test, ≤20% latency regression)
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are technology-agnostic (zero spec_kitty_runtime imports, zero vendored events files, install command surface)
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined (A1..A9)
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified (stale install, dev editable overrides, regression cases)
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded (in-scope / out-of-scope sections)
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified (cross-repo coordination, assumptions)

Feature Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria (FR cross-references in A1..A9)
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows (clean install, CI gate, dev workflow)
  • ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • ✅ No implementation details leak into specification beyond what is needed to identify the boundary

Notes

pyproject.toml) where those are constraints handed to the mission by the existing charter / repo, not novel design choices.

tracker-pypi-sdk-independence-hardening-01KQ1ZKK, and runtime mission runtime-standalone-package-retirement-01KQ20Z8 are documented in the Cross-repo coordination section.

  • Spec validated 2026-04-25; all checklist items pass on first iteration.
  • Spec deliberately names existing infrastructure (pytestarch, uv.lock,
  • Cross-repo dependencies on events sha 81d5ccd4, tracker mission
