Specification Quality Checklist: Single-Authority Topology Cleanup & Dedup

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-06-22 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details that pre-empt design (FR/NFR describe what must hold; code anchors are evidence, not prescribed solutions)
  • ✅ Focused on maintainer value and codebase-health needs
  • ✅ Written so a reviewer can judge each requirement
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
  • ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, and C-### entries
  • ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value
  • ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are outcome-focused (single-authority / passes-gate / net-LOC), not framework-specific
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified (unreadable-meta, value string-collision, parallel-classifier worktree_root, dogfooding)
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded (In Scope / Out of Scope, including the explicit C-010 acceptance-matrix carve-out)
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified (depends on PR #2086 SSOT; assumes external callers already SSOT-fed)

Feature Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria (via the 5 scenarios + the differential/AST gates)
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows (eradication, correctness win, two accept-gate folds, dedup)
  • ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria (SC-001..SC-005)
  • ✅ No implementation details leak into specification beyond grounding evidence

Notes

  • This is a behavior-neutral cleanup/dedup mission with ONE intentional correctness improvement (FR-004). The behavior-neutrality is what makes the differential-equivalence gate (FR-010) the central acceptance lever.
  • The KEEP set (C-001..C-007) is the anti-over-reduction guard; NFR-005 makes its preservation a checkable criterion. This is the randy-bias mitigation surfaced by the dedup research squad.
  • All checklist items pass on first authoring pass (scope pre-decided + research-grounded in #2070).
