Specification Quality Checklist: Synthesized DRG Stale-Refresh Fix

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-07-16 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • ✅ No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs)
  • ✅ Focused on user value and business needs
  • ✅ Written for non-technical stakeholders
  • ✅ All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
  • ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, and C-### entries
  • ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value
  • ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds
  • ✅ Success criteria are measurable
  • ✅ Success criteria are technology-agnostic (no implementation details)
  • ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined
  • ✅ Edge cases are identified
  • ✅ Scope is clearly bounded
  • ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified

Feature Readiness

  • ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria
  • ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows
  • ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • ✅ No implementation details leak into specification

Notes

  • Implementation-detail boundary: the spec names domain surfaces that are themselves user-facing in this developer-tooling product (the implement command, the synthesis manifest, the synced bundle, freshness sub-states, prescribed remediation commands) because operators interact with them directly. It deliberately excludes code-level detail — no function names, file paths to source modules, or line references — and defers the actual fix mechanism (content-hash comparison vs. bounded mtime handling vs. corrected remediation) to the Assumptions/Open Design Decision section, to be resolved in /spec-kitty.plan.
  • NFR thresholds: NFR-001 (0 file modifications on no-op-stable runs), NFR-002 (<2s freshness computation), NFR-003 (0 new manual steps/dependencies), NFR-004 (mypy --strict / ruff clean), NFR-005 (≥90% coverage on new/changed lines) are all measurable.
  • One documented deferral (not a blocker): the fix direction is intentionally left open for the plan phase, per the "Assumptions / Open Design Decision" section. This is a bounded design task, not an open clarification — the spec states the guiding design outcome (freshness must reflect doctrine/bundle content, not incidental mtimes) so the plan phase has a clear target regardless of which mechanism it selects.
  • Scope boundary: the "Related Issues" section explicitly separates this mission's sole in-scope defect (#2681) from the regression source it must preserve (#1912/#1913) and from three related-but-out-of-scope issues (#1914 umbrella, #2157 different terminal state, #2373 different code surface), plus one issue confirmed unrelated (#2009).
  • All items pass. Spec is ready for /spec-kitty.plan.
