Specification Quality Checklist: Opt-in SPDD and REASONS Canvas Doctrine Pack
Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-04-29 Feature: spec.md
Content Quality
- ✅ No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs) — references to YAML and skill files describe artifact identities, not implementation choices
- ✅ Focused on user value and business needs
- ✅ Written for non-technical stakeholders (with mission-author audience in mind)
- ✅ All mandatory sections completed
Requirement Completeness
- ✅ No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
- ✅ Requirements are testable and unambiguous
- ✅ Requirement types are separated (Functional / Non-Functional / Constraints)
- ✅ IDs are unique across FR-###, NFR-###, and C-### entries
- ✅ All requirement rows include a non-empty Status value (
proposed) - ✅ Non-functional requirements include measurable thresholds
- ✅ Success criteria are measurable
- ✅ Success criteria are technology-agnostic
- ✅ All acceptance scenarios are defined (primary + secondary + edge cases + walkthrough)
- ✅ Edge cases are identified (mid-mission activation, drift, trivial missions, unselected charter)
- ✅ Scope is clearly bounded (Out of Scope section enumerates exclusions)
- ✅ Dependencies and assumptions identified
Feature Readiness
- ✅ All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria
- ✅ User scenarios cover primary flows (active project + inactive project)
- ✅ Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
- ✅ No implementation details leak into specification
Notes
All items pass. Spec is ready for /spec-kitty.plan.
The brief in .kittify/mission-brief.md (start-here.md) was comprehensive enough to extract requirements directly without a full discovery interview.
